DescriptionDo you want to write about your life or an aspect of it? Are you worried about whether people would be interested in your writing and how to start? This short course intends to cover the following:

What autobiographical and memoir writing are and the difference between them.

Identifying the audience for and purpose of your writing

The pitfalls of writing about real people and how to mitigate them

Planning and structuring your writing

Some of the fundamental skills of good writing.

This is a course for anyone interested in writing about their life, or any aspect of it, no previous experience is required. Just bring your enthusiasm, ideas, and a notebook and pen or the electronic equivalent.

Anything elseThere will be a short break approximately half-way through each session.

The tutor, Helen Stockton, is a freelance writer specialising in writing that has its roots in the real world. She has a regular magazine column, writes features for a wide variety of magazines, has four published books, and mentors writers through long writing projects, including memoirs. She also helps people self-publish their own books.
